Zachary Fanok

A native-born West Virginian, Zach Fanok has spent the last 25 years studying, honing, and preserving the methods, nuances, and execution of Appalachian and Bluegrass fiddle playing. While initially drawing inspiration gained during apprenticeships, lessons, and camps studying with Old-Time master fiddlers such as Glen Smith, Art Stamper, and Dave Bing, he eventually graduated from East Tennessee State University where he studied Bluegrass Performance and gained experience learning from folks such as Clarence "Tater" Tate, Raymond McLain, and Hunter Berry.

After returning to Morgantown to pursue a teaching degree, Zach performed and recorded with several local bands including: Falling Run Bluegrass Band, The New Relics, Rustic Highway, Logantown, Allegheny Reign, and more recently, Mon Hills recording artist Jeffrey Wayne.

He believes that whether someone is a newcomer, or a seasoned-veteran, there's always potential for developing creative talent and expression. Zach lives in Morgantown.
