How to Apply
STEP 1

Apply to WVU.
College of Creative Arts applicants must be admitted to West Virginia University
before consideration. Apply to WVU at admissions.wvu.edu.

STEP 2
- Secure your audition appointment and complete the School of Music application online. Please review the audition requirements. Pre-screening is not required.
- Accompaniment (Voice Audition Only): You may bring an accompanist or WVU can provide one for you. If you would like us to provide an accompanist, please contact Prof. Laura Knoop-Very as soon as possible by phone at (304) 293-5677 or via e-mail at laura.knoopvery@mail.wvu.edu. Only voice auditions require piano accompaniment; other auditions are performed without piano accompaniment.
- If you will be submitting a video as your audition, please click HERE to submit. It will then be forwarded to the proper instructor.
- Please provide two recommendations from individuals who can speak to your credentials as a musician and as a student. These are needed to process your application. These must be submitted promptly.
- Click HERE for the online recommendation form.
- Alternatively, recommenders can send their letter of recommendation on letterhead directly to the WVU School of Music at the following email address: music@mail.wvu.edu
STEP 3
- After the School of Music receives your application, you will receive confirmation two weeks before the date(s) you selected for your audition, in addition to other pertinent
information.
- This audition also serves as a scholarship consideration.
- Please allow two weeks after your audition to confirm your admission status.
- We will notify the student and the Office of Admissions of the results of the audition.
Once you have been admitted, you will also receive information on the scheduling
of classes.
- Students who do not meet the standards for admittance into the School of Music may select a variety of other majors at the University, including the College of Creative Arts Multidisciplinary Studies program.
