Jeanne Frieben
Jeanne Frieben earned her M.M. in Clarinet Performance and B.M. in Music
Education at West Virginia University and her major clarinet instructors were
Fred Ormand, John Weigand and Agnes McConaughy.
As a freelance musician, Jeanne performs regularly as Principal Clarinetist of
the Johnstown Symphony, Bass Clarinetist with the West Virginia Symphony &
Ohio Valley Symphony Orchestras, and Second Clarinetist of the River Cities Orchestra.
For two summers, she attended the Music Academy of the West Summer Institute
in Santa Barbara, California and twice performed as principal clarinetist in
the Lyric Mountain Summer Festival. Additional performances have included
the Westmoreland Symphony, Seneca Chamber Winds and the Fairmont University-Community
Orchestra and Allegheny Chamber Players.
As a clarinet instructor, Jeanne has previously held the positions of Adjunct
Instructor of Clarinet at WVU and Frostburg State University, and she also enjoyed
serving as Director of the WVU Community Arts Program for many years. Jeanne
currently serves as Director of Student Records and Advising at the WVU College
of Creative Arts and is an Artist level clarinet instructor in the WVU Community
Music Program where she enjoys teaching music lovers of all ages and performing
regularly with her adult clarinet ensemble.
